Tell Your Congress Member to Support the Nakba Resolution

ACTION ALERT

Dear ICNA CSJ Supporter,

74 years ago, the Palestinian people were faced with an event so harrowing, so inhumane, and so unjust, it became known as “Nakba”, or “Catastrophe”. This event was the establishment of the State of Israel on Palestinian Land, an occupation conducted by Zionist military forces. 750,000 people were forcibly removed from their native land, and almost 80 percent of Palestine was taken over by the State of Israel. As time went on, the violence of the military takeover has turned into a military occupation and an apartheid state.

Israel’s military has gone unchecked by the global community, who view the state as a friend and supporter in a volatile region. The United States sends military aid to Israel every year, as well as discretionary funds for programs upon request. In 2021 alone, the United States sent 3.8 billion dollars in foreign aid to Israel. This is the largest sum given to any other country worldwide. For years, Palestinians and global activists have been attempting to shed light on the occupation and apartheid they face under Israel’s military, and finally, their voices are being heard.

One week ago, the first Palestinian American congresswoman- Rashida Tlaib introduced the Nakba Resolution, a resolution to acknowledge the human rights violations, displacement, civil liberties violations, and apartheid perpetrated by the State of Israel.

This is a historic resolution and is the first of its kind. You can be a part of the movement to recognize the Nakba by asking your congressional representatives to sign this resolution. By doing so, you could raise your voice for the people of Palestine, who have been displaced, forcibly removed from their homes, imprisoned, murdered, and under constant warfare for the better part of a century.
