The month of Ramadan has flown by, and through it, we have witnessed so many miracles. Our community came together after so many months apart, praying nightly at the masjid, and hosting community iftars. After two years, it felt like the spirit of Ramadan had come again. I hope we all made the most of this month, striving hard to reach our truest potential, and putting in the work to make our spiritual aspirations a reality.
If this Ramadan has emphasized anything to us, it is how much better we all are together. Our collective voice as one Ummah is powerful, and can change the tides of history. This starts with our individual voice. At ICNA Council for Social Justice, we empower you to raise your voice, by keeping you educated about the issues that matter. We then craft impactful letters and tweets for you to send to your elected officials, using a convenient platform that only takes a click of a button. In just 2 steps, you send an email and a tweet to your elected officials, and may even receive a personalized response.
ICNA Council of Social Justice is working on many issues right now, including Hindutva- the right wing anti-minority ideology that currently holds power in India. We also work on the freedom of Kashmir and the liberation of Palestine, an issue is finally making some traction in American politics. Domestic issues like racial injustice, Islamophobia, immigration reform, food access, wealth inequality and prison reform are also on our list. All these issues are important to you, and matter to your family, and your communities.
That is why, we at ICNA CSJ, do our best to keep you informed about policy updates, current events, and new developments that may not be a part of your daily news intake. This work is important; it gives you and your community a voice, and allows us to do what other communities in this country have been doing for decades- being heard.
