Chasing the Night of Power

Last Chance to Donate this Ramadan

Assalam Alaykum ICNA CSJ Supporter

There is one odd night left in the month of Ramadan. Just one- we spend the year chasing Ramadan, and we spend Ramadan chasing the last 10 nights. This is your last chance to make dua for the thing you’ve been putting off. It’s your last chance to finish the surah you’ve meant to finish, making a Ramadan donation to the cause that’s been on your mind. It’s your last chance to accomplish something that will make you feel you’ve tried.

This Ramadan,  my heart has been with those who were not able to attend our iftars, our qiyams, or even fast with us. Our brothers and sisters behind bars are a part of the brotherhood and sisterhood that we share, but are so often left out of our communities, and sometimes even forgotten in our prayers. The Muslim Prisoner Support Project has sent more than 20,000 books, copies of the Quran, headscarves, prayer rugs, and more Islamic materials to prisons across the country. This year alone, we have sent packages to 68 prisons in 21 states.  Supporters and donors like you made this milestone possible, and we are so excited about the impact we’ve made on Muslims in United States prisons.

Here’s the thing: We want to do more, and we know you do too.

This year, we are aiming to send more Qurans, headscarves, prayer rugs, and Islamic material to prisons across the country. We also want to expand and provide chaplains, khateebs, educational videos, and more for Muslims behind bars to learn more about Islam, and to have guided spiritual mentorship in their practice. All this will make it easier for them to stand shoulder to shoulder with us when they are welcomed back into our communities.

As you wrap up your Ramadan Donations, remember the Muslim Prisoner Support Project, a project that aims to welcome back our forgotten community. Remember that this is a sadaqah Jaariyah, and you may be preserving Islam in a family for generations to come. Remember also, that we do not know which of our sincere actions will be accepted, and that we are all striving to be together in the next life, regardless of who we are, and where we come from.
