Women Fight Sexualization of Athletic Uniforms

Worldwide competitions and sporting events have opened the space for a conversation regarding the sexualization of women athletes’ uniforms. The controversy started with the European Handball Federation fining the Norwegian team €1,500 for “improper clothing,” at the European Beach Handball Championships. The Norwegian team had refused to wear bikini bottoms while competing. 

According to the official rules, the European handball federation forces women to wear a sports bra and bikini bottoms when playing official games. Men wear shorts and a vest shirt. 

 
Senate Republican filibuster threatens voting rights legislature

Voter suppression has had a significant role to play in the history of the United States as well as contemporarily. The 2020 elections included tactics by former President Trump that would limit the amount of Democratic votes. However, voter suppression is not just a tool used by the previous administration. The history of voter suppression stretches back to the founding of the United States. Systemic suppression of the Black vote (and contemporarily other minorities’ votes) was and continues to be the framework of each election.
